About The Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers are members of the Pacific Division within the Western Conference of the National Hockey League. The team was founded in 1971 as part of the World Hockey Association and joined the NHL in 1979 after the WHA-NHL merger.

The team's colors are navy blue, orange, and white, and their logo features an oil drop on top of a gear, symbolizing the team's name and the importance of the oil industry in Alberta.

The Edmonton Oilers have experienced considerable success throughout their history, particularly during the 1980s. They have won the Stanley Cup, the NHL's championship trophy, five times: in the 1983-84, 1984-85, 1986-87, 1987-88, and 1989-90 seasons. The team has also captured numerous division titles and playoff appearances.

The Oilers' dynasty of the 1980s was led by some of the most legendary players in the history of hockey, including Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri, Paul Coffey, and Grant Fuhr. More recently, the team has been led by stars such as Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who have become some of the most dynamic players in the league.

Edmonton Oilers Playoff Tickets

The NHL Playoffs includes four best-of-seven series. Eight teams from each conference make the playoffs. The top 3 seeds from each division automatically qualify, while the remaining top two point getters from each conference get in as Wild Cards. The Eastern Conference 1st Round and the Western Conference 1st Round occur as follows:

Brackets for each conference are split by division. The 2 & 3 seeds in each division square off, while the lower seeded Wild Card battles the higher ranked division winner. The winners of each series in each conference will square off in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and the Western Conference Semifinals. There is no reseeding and the higher seed still has home ice advantage.

The winners of the second round then face each other in the Conference Finals to determine which teams will represent each conference in the Stanley Cup Finals. After the first two rounds, the home team switches from the higher ranked team to the team with the better regular season record. All series throughout the Playoffs are in a 2–2–1–1–1 format.
